At 11:19 pm, officers were dispatched to the New Milford Public Library on a report of a activated burglar alarm, New Milford police said. Upon arriving on scene, officers observed a broken rear window to the building with shattered glass inside and out, police said.

A perimeter was established around the building and when officers viewed the library's security system, they discovered a person, later identified as Patrick Fearon, was in the building. Fearon was located underneath a bench in the hallway and was apprehended.

Fearon was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and criminal trespass, police said.

Last month, Fearon was accused of setting fires to an unoccupied Fort F350 pickup truck owned by the County of Bergen, which spread to another pickup truck, also owned by the county, in the parking lot of Bergen County Academies on Hackensack Avenue on Thursday, Sept. 19, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Fearon, approached the truck in the parking lot, shattered the driver’s side window, and set the fire using an accelerant, Musella said. Fearon then fled the area without notifying the authorities of the fire, authorities said.
